The Foster Mount

The Foster Mount was a metal bracket which allowed the placement of a Lewis Gun on the upper wing of British Fighters. The bracket allowed for the drum fed machine gun to be lowered to the cockpit so the pilot could change drums in flight. It also made it possible for the pilot to lower the gun so that he could, in theory fly under an opponent and fire upwards into the enemy aircraft's belly.
